The University of Wisconsin-Madison has also been reviewing products for full disk encryption. Safeboot and WinMagic both indicated first half of 2008 for a full disk encryption Macintosh release. Utimaco says they are working on one but wouldn't give an approximate release date.

Gary,

We have just started to review products for full disk encryption. We’ve had meetings with folks from PGP this week. They stated that full disk encryption will be available for Mac’s (boot volume included) early next year, however they were unable to give us a firm release date.

Justin

So, what product(s) is everyone using for full-disk on Macs?

Our unit at Rutgers looked at a number of encryption utilities and, for most purposes, sees the full disk encryption as our preferred method, to avoid cases where the enduser may not store their sensitive files in the encrypted folders.
