Thank you to all who participated in my survey. There were many respondents that indicated they would like access to the results so instead of replying individually I'm going to post the link to the results here : http://tinyurl.com/29376z The vast majority seem to be using Microsoft WSUS either alone or in combination with commercial packages as their patch management solution. Of those WSUS users, many indicated that the inability of WSUS to patch non-Microsoft applications was an issue. I'd be interested in any comments on how institutions are augmenting WSUS to address the growing threat posed by unpatched / unmanaged third party applications. Comments indicated that some institutions may be leveraging custom scripting and/or NAC solutions like Cisco CCA in this area. I'd like the hear more about the effectiveness, capabilities, and costs of these types of solutions versus using WSUS in tandem with another commercial patch management solution. -- - Anthony Maszeroski, CCNA ----------------------------------- Information Security Manager The University of Scranton email : maszeroskia3 () scranton edu phone : 570-941-4226 -----------------------------------
