Sadler, Connie ventured to comment, at 10/25/06 12:55 PM:
Does anyone have thoughts - or an actual policy - regarding the use of IP Phones or software such as Skype, etc. that they are willing to share? Thanks! Connie J. Sadler, CM, CISSP, CISM, GIAC GSLC
We had to make a policy -- our Language department is using Skype with classes of ESL students around the globe. It can be an interesting and useful tool. http://www.oberlin.edu/news-info/05dec/language.html We appear to have avoided many of the downsides of Skype by careful use of our Packetshaper to limit the bandwidth and numbers of connections a Skype user can create and consume. That seems to have reduced the tendency for our campus to host supernodes. -- -- Cal Frye, Network Administrator, Oberlin College www.ouuf.org, www.calfrye.com, www.pitalabs.com "No woman can call herself free who does not own and control her body." -- Margaret Sanger.
