You may want to consider NetBotz which can provide both camera and
environmental monitoring.

One thing to keep in mind are the legal issues, particularly where
voice is recorded.  Some states consider recording voice with a video
system the same as recording a telephone conversation.  Some states
require both parties of a "conversation" to agree to recording; some
state require only one party in a conversation to agree.
