Adobe attachments?

Apologies if this is old news but I just came across it.  Apparently
Adobe Reader supports attachments that can result in local
applications being launched.  The "default" for this feature is
"enabled" as shown below.

This seems like an exploit waiting to happen.  Has this been
discussed somewhere already?
