Question on infected machine percentages

Hi, I am trying to put together some statistics on percent of machines on campus that become infected. I think that the easiest way to compare stats is to go for a % infected/per 1000/per day - this would allow a semi scientific method of comparing various protection schemes. I am defining our "machines pulled from the network to be reformatted" as the count of machines infected. If any one has stats that they are willing to share, I would appreciate it.
