Ryan, Attached is the UC Berkeley policy on surveillance cameras in public areas. Basically, I interpret the Berkeley document as saying 'any permanent (more than 5 days) video or camera surveillance must be approved in advance by the campus police. Any other surveillance must take into consideration a person's reasonable expectation of privacy in public places (however that is defined under law or precedent).' FWIW. Hello, We have recently had several request made of our IT deparment to provide recommendations on security camera products and designs. I would appreciate any feedback anyone has on products being used at your institutions and any policies you may have in place to govern the installation and products being purchased. Also, I'm curious about how the systems are being supported, IT, Police department, facilities?
