About the conference --

Information is the most important resource any organization controls.
Ensuring the confidentiality of information is crucial in today's
competitive world. To help guard against the increasing risk of
espionage, data piracy and information security breaches, the California
State University and the University of California are proud to present
Secure IT 2004, an information technology security conference, April
27-30, 2004, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in San Francisco, California.
The conference will focus on key issues related to information and
network security, with presentations provided by recognized experts and
exhibits by some of the nation's leading organizations.



Who will be there?

Executive management - CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, VPs Technology

Business management - CFOs, Financial managers

Technical management - Directors of IT, Directors of Technology, IT
security officers

Technical experts - Systems architects, systems and network
administrators, systems and applications developers, webmasters



Call for Proposals

The program committee requests proposals for conference presentations
addressing both the technical and management aspects of security. The
conference will begin with a one day pre-conference with a number of
half and full-day sessions.  The following 3 days will include 48
individual and panel 75 minute presentations.



Presentations can cover any aspect of information security. Although not
limited to the following, topic areas for presentations may include:

o       Business resiliency/resumption/disaster recovery

o       Strategic planning for security

o       Creating awareness

o       Internal security breaches

o       Funding Security

o       Negotiating with vendors

*       Technical focus

o       Wireless

o       Intrusion detection/prevention

o       PKI

o       Authentication/authorization issues

o       VoIP

o       Emerging technologies

o       Best Effective Practices

*       Legal and legislative issues - new and pending legislations,
implications, privacy implications
*       Curriculum Development in information security/assurance - e.g.

o       Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute

o       Regional Center for Information Systems Security

o       National Centers for Excellence in Information Assurance
Education

*       Homeland security
*       Partnerships for security - e.g., K-12 and higher education,
business/industry and higher education
*       Health and Medical Center issues



To propose a presentation, please complete the form at

submission of proposals is November 30, 2003. The program committee will
review the proposals and let you know if your proposal is accepted by
January 1, 2004.



Presenters will receive a substantial discount on conference
registration fees and will only be required to pay $250 instead of the
$635 full registration fee. Presenters will need to pay for their own
travel and lodging expenses.
