Connie, There was a session at the Educause conference on PKI deployment -- schools that have put elements of PKI systems into actual production. Re (1) below, the University of Texas Health Sciences Center -- Houston seems to have done a fairly substantial deployment of certificate-based systems and, as I recall, have policies requiring the use of encryption for sensitive information. I'd suggest you contact UTHSC-H directly for more information. I think the speaker was William Weems, but you can probably check that on the Educause site that has the conference session descriptions. Sadler, Connie wrote:
I have a couple of quick "benchmarking" questions: 1) Has anyone deployed encrypted e-mail yet to some areas of your campus that work with "sensitive" information? If so, what are you using? 2) Do any of you make recommendations on how to "sanitize" hard drives for PCs and/or MACs that are being "surplused"? Bonus Question: Does anyone offer CTN (College Television Network) cable service on your ResNet (network or cable)? If so, do you think it has helped with issues regarding P2P file sharing? Thanks much... Connie J.
