Not to start a thread worth not reading, but... I wouldn't call it really humorous, or say that it is invalid. So yes, I'm pretty sure most of us stand on the same page about CISSP certification. It means very very little, most would call it a joke. However, that fact that Microsoft has a large number of CISSPs *does* show that they value security and are commited to the task. Whether they are doing in the wrong way could be debated forever and would get us no where. Whether isc2 should be bragging that Microsoft yields tons of CISSPs could also be debated, and I'm really not sure how it gives isc2 any bragging rights. I mean, obviously they think it does, but if you stand back and think about it, it really only says a couple of things. Microsoft cares about security, however misleaded they may be. Isc2 has tricked the world (including Microsoft) in to thinking that whatever they provide is actually something of use. Not trying to defend Microsoft, just saying atleast they recognize that they have a problem, and need to take steps so solve it. If they think its arming their staff with CISSPs, they may be doing things wrong. If all of these CISSPs are high level people, and it got them to think about security even the slightest bit more than they did before, atleast they are partially doing something right. I am sure that all of you will sleep better at night knowing that M$ is having their employees get their CISSP.. "With more than 350 CISSPs, Microsoft now has the largest number of (ISC)2 professionally certified information security staff of any technology company in the world," said Dow A. Williamson, CISSP, director of communications for (ISC)2 based in Vienna, Va. "That is a testament to Microsoft's commitment to information security and in having an independent validation of their information security professionals."
