Why does it have to be people in Tampa Bay?
 
I work and live in Calgary, Canada and am able to rely on friends and
mentors all over the globe.  Thats the beauty of the Internet.

I have noticed that many of the good security researchers have either
friends or mentors. If you work at a security company like Immunitysec,
Eeye, ISS you have a lot of good information sharing. I live in the Tampa,
Florida area and have not found any type of information sharing. Does anyone
know of any people in the Tampa Bay area that would be willing to share
