Yes, indeed there are ways that attempt to look into this issue. For instance, recently I have been contributing 
features to OURMON (network monitoring and anomaly detection tool) that can be configured and used to monitor network 
traffic for suspicious behavior. For instance, one of the features that I contributed was to detect Torpig's network
