GSM privacy questions

Hello everyone;
a colleague and I are attempting to to a basic assesment of GSM privacy over all revisions of the GSM standard. I've taken a look at the GSM consortum documentation, but I still have technical questions about things like QOS and carrier information being sent over clear channels, as well as what, and how much user information can be exposed on a normally operating 3g network. If anyone has any resources relating to this, we'd both be extremely grateful.

Many thanks,
Caspian
