Hi all,

Sorry but i consider the discussion about random pattern and 1 and 0 more philosophical than practical.

Philosophical spoken, what is the difference between random pattern and 1 and 0, if the set for random patterns 
consists only in those 2 elements?

Practicaly spoken, i am not aware of data being recovered from hard disks wiped by overwriting once - do you know any 
cases?
Furthermore the size of hard disks increased significantly so it takes a considerable amount of time to overwrite more 
than once. Depending on the number of the dirves a degaussing or phyisical destruction might be much more 
cost-efiicient.
