Hello! If you're talking about Windows Vista / 7 machines, you can force all the removable medias to read-only mode using group policies, either using active directory or local policies if you're not running your computers on domain. Other solution for Microsoft environment would be installing the Rights Management Services to protect your data. It's much easier that people usually think! That'll prevent the usage of your documents outside your organization, no matter how they're transferred.
