Hello,
I would tend to agree the Board of Directors... with a dotted line to the "Chief Legal Officer" type (title not
withstanding)

I'm of the opinion that the CSO (and the Security department) should
report directly to the Board of Directors.

I work for a very large company.

We have a centralized information systems department.

We have a wide array of operating systems and technologies.

We are open 24/7/365.

Who should the Information Systems Security Officer report to?

The Chief Information Officer?
Legal?
The Company Police Department? (actual law enforcement officers - we
are very big)
Compliance?
Risk Management?

If the Information Systems Security Officer reports to the head of
Information Systems, is he able to be impartial and objective?

What is the best practice and how does it work in your organization?
