I'm not sure if GMail made any changes, but it could also be that you changed your browser or updated its version. This is a great article that talks about how encryption algorithms are negotiated. http://luxsci.com/blog/256-bit-aes-encryption-for-ssl-and-tls-maximal-security.html Firefox 3.0.5 and Opera 9.62 will select AES 256 if its available, and IE will choose RC4 128 On Sun, Dec 13, 2009 at 5:41 PM, Chip Panarchy <forumanarchy () gmail com> wrote:
Hi I noticed this about a month ago, we're no longer using 128-bit RC4, but 256-bit AES! Very good news, just wondering when this change occurred? Was it when GMail stopped being beta, or after then? If anyone has an exact date, I'd appreciate it.
