Take a peek at Zabbix: http://www.zabbix.com/

I am currently working on replacing a rather large Nagios deployment
with it. It is one of the most robust 'all in ones' that I have seen
to date.

Dear All,

I have been assigned the task to recommend a freeware / low value
purchase software for our helpdesk to monitor tcp port status & server
availability. Can anyone recommend a simple & efficient product that can
run on Windows XP / 2003. Basic requirements would be -

 1. To check the ping status
 2. Check whether particular TCP ports are responding
 3. Have a dashboard to give a quick representation
 4. Must have an smtp engine to alert via emails

I am aware of Big Brother, just wanted to check if anyone could vouch
 for a better software.

 Thanks,
 Tinu Koshy

PS: If you know of a Linux based software, please do suggest that too.
