The only way to be 100% sure data will never be recovered is an industrial metal shredder:

This would however effectively destroy the USB drive, memory card, etc.

I've never used any of these tools personally.

Ultimately, the only way to ensure information can not be recovered is to destroy the hardware the data was stored on.
