If you are using openvpn, it depends on how you set up the vpn. If you run the vpn directly on your Windows 2003 server, then yes, you will need to port forward whichever port you're using for vpn (usually 1194 udp or tcp). If, however, you set it up so that there is another VPN server and your 2003 box is merely a client, then no port forwarding would be required so long as the VPN server is on a public network. If not, the same port forwarding applies. Personally, I use openvpn, and love it. It is easy to set up, easy to manage, and easy to understand (IPSec gives me headaches ;-). If you have any questions on setting it up, pop in #openvpn on irc.freenode.org and they'll be happy to help. The docs are pretty good, though. smithj -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHViW8CG91qXPaRekRAnb7AJ9kWxerlti8QMnM/E4eEDgvjTVgDgCcDkqT JuNAGk9ew+7K5XmEP1i3gJI= =OtRj -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
