I want to know if some tool is available for generating the Host-list in
the LAN (nmap takes a long time for Class-A range.).

You can do this by using PERL, use the NET module which provides the ping 
function. You should tweak the code as per your needs by efficiently using 
the time_out value to speed up your stuff.

NMAP should be also able to do the same stuff, maybe you aren't using the 
various options provided by the tool to your advantage.
