Once you turn it on, you are essentially alerting anyone who sends e-mail to you that you are not there. And since the typical
out-of-office reply
gives juicy info like where you are, who to contact, and when you will
be back. This is why I never use OoO messages, either in email or VM. I don't know what book it was but it did cover this as a security topic, one of the only ones I've ever read to cover it.
