Take a look at PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) which offers hard disk, file and
email encryption and runs on both platforms you mentioned.
Alternatively, if your budget is non-existant (or you simply want a free
and/or open source alternative) check out GnuPG (Gnu Privacy Guard) which is
a free replacement for PGP that runs on Windows and Unix, and works
relatively well in my experience on Windows with the WinPT frontend. Also as
another alternative on Win2k systems you could look into the buit-in
Encrypting File System (EFS).

Hi all,



I'm fairly new to the secuirty world, but have been recently asked by my
company to find a product that will be able encrypt files on a PC (mostly
Win98 and Win2k based), especially on laptops.  They want an extra layer of
security in case any of these machines get stolen.  Thanks in advance for
the input.
