RE: Security+ Advice

Interesting. Personally I've it very difficult to gain employment within the
security industry and have been met with closed doors due to my lack of
'professional' experience. The CISSP is highly regarded and I would consider
aiming for it because of the obvious rewards, but the criteria for becoming
certified seem strict. I understand the reasons are to protect the CISSP
from becoming 'cheap' like perhaps a MCSE, but how strict are the ISC in
their definition of professional experience. 

Is it a case where not having enough professional experience to find
suitable employment will also mean failing the ISCs requirements to become
certified ?

Is is not that REALLY hard to get the CISSP certification. However, it does
takes alot of time to prepare, read and understand. This requires alot of
dedication and stamina to juggle between the working and studying schedule.
It took me 3 months to prepare, not an easy task, endless nights of reading
after work, visitng the cccure.org website more than often for practice
exams and extensive brainstorming sessions with peers..:) Basically it is
temporary goodbye to party nights and sunday movies...:)
