Well, without RPC many services that make up the base Windows functions
would not be able to start.  Now I will admit that many of the services that
depend on RPC aren't necessary for most people's usage, but they would be
necessary in a corporate envronment.  A couple examples:

IIS (for web servers)
WMI 
COM+
Cryptographic Services (Maintians Root Certificates and a database of the
signatures of important windows files)
Disk Manager
Your network connections...
Task Scheduler
Human Interface Device Access (Controls my mouse among other periferals...
And probably yours)
