It is my opinion that you could probably maintain the same 
level of security with open source.  But, it will need a 
whole lot of maintenance.  So, you would need to weigh the 
two.

For a cheap firewall solution, you could check out Netscreen 
Firewall.  They are relatively cheap, and can do the job.
