ping, traceroute, nampwin doesnt seem to work

hi all ..

i am using WIN XP and plan to install RHL 9.0 on the same machine. I
have downloaded few tools to study them namely nmapwin , 3dtraceroute
etc
but none of their queries them seem to go beyond the boundaries of my
machine. There is a sygate software firewall on my PC
even ping does't seem to work. the four queries are timed-out. Does
anybody know the solution to this. I have even tried uninstalling the
firewall.
