How about fastening the computer to the desk with a security
cable?  IT retains the keys, or course, meaning that to move the
computer, someone from IT has to know about it.  It has the
advantage of offering the excuse of "increased physical security
of the system" so you don't have the call the MD an overbearing
technology-grubbing luser.  ;-)
