Addition to my question: SMTP + 802.1q Virtual LAN

Hi,I hope I found the difference. Playing around with tcpdump and filters I found out that tcpdump couldn't find tcp packets. After looking at a piece with ethereal I recognized that between the IP and Ethernet layer reside a 802.1q Virtual LAN layer.
So, who can give me a quick and dirty help to remove this layer out of my tcpdump files?
Any help is appreciate. Many thanks in advance. with best regards Cliff _________________________________________________________________The new MSN 8: smart spam protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail
