BTW. The "struct tm tm_copy = *tm" line would break on a pre-ANSI compiler, right? I assume tcpdump doesn't handle those (?)
Well, we don't handle compilers without prototypes; there might be some pre-ANSI compilers with function prototype support on systems on which somebody would want to compile tcpdump, but there probably aren't very many of them. If you're referring to structure assignment, though, that antedates the ANSI C standard; the first edition of K&R might not have mentioned it, but it was in the Ritchie C compiler in V7, as I remember, as well as PCC. - This is the TCPDUMP workers list.
