Just to throw a spanner in the works, it is considered a security
(actually privacy) violation to use X-Forwarded-For as you're telling
the end server the client's internal IP address. That is one of the
reasons we went with installing snort *on* our proxies - which is a
variant of the "in front of" argument.

Just say yes to more NIDS ;-)
