No problem and thanks for writing. There are certainly components in Strata
Guard Free that are GPL licensed and then there are some non-GPL or open
source StillSecure stuff. If you go to http://www.stillsecure.org, on the
left hand column you will see one link to OS source and one to license
agreement. If you click on the OS source and click on common OS you will be
taken to this url: http://download.stillsecure.com/CommonOsBuild/SRPMS/
This actually contains all of the open source components that we use at
StillSecure in all three of our products (VAM for vulnerability management
and Safe Access for network access control). All of our products including
Strata Guard Free run a common OS and have many open source components. You
can download the licenses and actual source code there.

Let me stress though, as I don't want to mislead you or anyone else. Other
than the open source stuff listed, the code for Strata Guard Free is
freeware, but not open source. We go to great lengths not to take any open
source code and make derivative works of it. We build our code on top of
some open source apps and are careful to make sure every copyright and
license is honored. If after reading the above links, you or anyone else
has any questions around license issues and open source I would be happy to
answer them off line, so as to not take up the lists time

Thanks
alan

As usual we appreciate any feedback and suggestions.

I couldn't find the source for this anywhere. Doesn't the GPL license,
which I believe Snort is assigned, require the source of the application
built upon it be available as well? I haven't used your product, so I
don't know if it has custom code or if it is just a collection of open
source software sold to the unmotivated (your non-free version)? I'm
mean no harm, just curious. It seems nice - I'd like to try it, I just
want to know what I'm installing.
