Subject: [Snort-users] building snort from CVS

Ok guys is there an automatic way to do this?

I would be surprised if someone hasn't written a script to do this
automagically since all you are doing is checking out source and running a
couple of commands. But if you are using Snort in a production
environment, you probably should stick with release tar balls as opposed
to getting the latest from CVS which may or may not work correctly at any
given time.

I did:
SnortFAQ:3.19 "How do I get the latest version via CVS"
then I try to ./configure and there is no configure script

after you check out snort, cd into the snort directory and run
'autojunk.sh' this will get you the configure script that you can run.

So I did the following:

1) Download snort-2.1.1
2) copy configure script from 2.1.1 to checked out version
3) copy ALL Makefile.in from 2.1.1 to checked out version
4) copy config.in.h from 2.1.1 to checked out version
5) copy depcomp from 2.1.1 to checked out version

see above for solution

After which it was possible to configure and build the pig

Thanks,

JC
