Hi, I am extremley new to Linux and Snort. I have been working in a pure MS world and have decided I need to broaden my horizons. I've started by installing RED HAT 9 (Shrike) on my laptop in the hope that I can learn a new OS and become familiar with some of the tools available. I want to get to grips with Snort.. so I have set it up on my laptop... I'm using the lates version and I have ACID and the GUI from http://users.pandora.be/larc/download/ All set up and running sweet, took a while ;-) Anyway my question is can I run it on my MODEM Connection?? Problem is my machine is a Compaq Armada 500, Using a Win Modem... I use KPPP to dial up... I want to configure a sensor to monitor my modem connection when online. I am dynamically assigned an IP Address when connecting. Any ideas?? Also I don't know what to specify in the interface as Internet Configuration and Modem probes don't detect my modem. Any help appreciated. Dave This message is strictly private and contains confidential information intended only for the use of the person named above.
