Hi All, When setting up snort to run on RedHat 7.3 I am unable to activate a NIC without an IP. This is going to be my sniffing NIC and the documentation says it cannot have an IP. Am I missing something? Jason Whitson VisionXtreme Computers www.visionxtreme.net
Jason, I've run this fine without an ip: Jun 5 07:43:10 gateway snort: OpenPcap() device eth1 network lookup: ^Ieth1: no IPv4 address assigned Jun 5 07:43:11 gateway snort: Writing PID "7913" to file "/var/run//snort_eth1.pid" This machine has eth0 and eth1 and br0 interfaces. Only the br0 interface has an ip.
