if you have cygwin installed (http://www.cygwin.com) create a update.sh
file:

wget http://www.snort.org/dl/rules/snortrules-current.tar.gz
wget http://www.whitehats.com/ids/vision18.rules.gz
gzip -d *.gz
tar -xvf snortrules-current.tar
rm snortrules-current.tar
mv *.rules ./rules
