CSV issues or one too many swigs from that bottle??

I am using snort 1.8 as included in SuSE 8.0 and then on another 
machine 1.9.0 from snort.org

I really really want to make the CSV output work as listed in the 
user manual online and in the tarball I installed/compiled from.

What silly little thing are we missing?  and or is there an easy FAST 
way to write a file with just the following information:

timestamp, src, srcport, dest, destport
