barnyard rc2 and waldo file

How exactly should one use the waldo file? If I have barnyard
running without it, it's enough to copy a new unified-plugin-output
file to barnyard's directory and it will notice the new file
right away. If it's running with the -w option, it doesn't see
the new log file.
