Mysterious Log Removal

Just updated to Snort 1.8.3 - fresh install.

On one system I've started noticing a problem with my
binary log files disappearing.  When I restart snort
via an init script (just kills the process and starts
a new one) it is now removing the current log file
when snort stops.  If I just stop the snort instance,
the log file disappears.

I also notice on all systems updated that the log file
naming scheme has changed from MMDD () HHMM-snort log to
MMDD () HHM-snort log.  This presents a problem when
restarting an instance within ten minutes of timestamp
on the file.
