Sekhar,

Offensive Security Certifications have a very practical approch, the exam is all hands on based, different from the SANS certifications. In OSCP you receive a VPN credential to log in their exam structure, where you have direct access to hundreds of hosts which you have to explore to take some cryptographic key. By sending this key to Offensive Security you proove that you have compromised that machine's security. Being practical you have to have at least a minimum practical knowledge of pentesting. I think that Offensive Security exams are better because they focus on the practical approch, I mean, the approch you are going to get when you are working with pentesting. Dispite of the fact, the SANS exams are much more well known.

Hi Guys,

I am planning of taking OSCP examination (offensive-security's). I
know equalent certifications are also available at SANS(GPEN or GCIH)
. OSCP is very economic compared to SANS in terms of pricing. But i
heard lots of people talking abt SANS certifications than OSCP. Please
give me your openion on how recognised is it in the industry? Is it
worth for what we are payingfor this course? How is the syllabus, does
it cover current attacks? or plain old technics which may not be
working in most of the current environments. suggest me if you know
any other good certifications...

Thanks,

Prove to peers and potential employers without a doubt that you can actually do a proper penetration test. IACRB CPT
and CEPT certs require a full practical examination in order to become certified.
