This thread seems to confuse "rock star" / "media whore" with hacker ninja. In thirty years as a system programmer, I've contributed code to wu-imap, sendmail, kernel-doc, x11R3, horde, php, kerberos, MS-Fortran, snort, on and on. Trust me, I know how to write code and I know how to break into stuff. I also know that I am not alone.

I see evidence of many silent ninjas, and I enjoy their mocking comments about the "glam haxors" and "rock stars".

It gets old listening to the new-media marketing bobble-heads tell me that unless you have 5000 twitter followers you must not be able to understand buffer overflows.

Prove to peers and potential employers without a doubt that you can actually do a proper penetration test. IACRB CPT and CEPT certs require a full practical examination in order to become certified.
