The best thing you can do it get a "get out of jail free card." Have a lawyer write a release for you as an individual and then one for you company. Do not relies on a off the shelf document it could have loop holes that a laymen may not get. Such as keywords like "whole" and "reasonable" that can go both ways. -----Original Message----- From: Adam Tuliper [mailto:amt () gecko-software com] Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2004 12:46 PM To: pen-test () securityfocus com Subject: legal documents One item constantly facing penetration testers is causing damage while testing a system. If I am doing a scan for a company and happen to break something in the process, depending on whats broke, a company may have quite a problem with it. Does anyone have any good legal documents stating this may be the case, release from damage, etc?
