If you have the ability to push executables onto the computers, (i.e. login script) then it would not be too difficult 
to send an AT command to all possible com ports. If you get a response back then you probably have a modem, double 
check with ATI and you should get some information on the particular modem.

I am wondered if there is a product which can detect the existence of a modem,
without
the need for the modem to be connected ?.  Specifically, in a LAN environment,
can an
administrator/pen tester identify a modem through the network, rather than
through the telephone
network.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
