Also, I remember folks who rode the metro running up to 30 minutes late because of schedules or delays on the metro.

Pierre,

I've done the stay with friends in DC area during SANS training bit and I will warn you it is a little rough. YMMV but
if you network and attend the @night talks, you won't be finished at the conference until late and you're probably
going to want to get in there early regardless of how you commute. The hotel will help you get extra sleep and
breakfast time but I understand saving money and seeing friends. My friend I crashed with only actually saw me once
until after the conference and I would doze on the metro.

So with the support of my manager and a long write up I was able to convince my employer to pay for SANS
training at SANS Fire 2013. So I was wondering if it is worth it to stay at the conference is being held. the reason
I ask is because i have friends that live in the DC/Metro area so i could catch the metro to and from the hotel with
ease. And if anyone could give me there experiences at past SANS Fire conferences that would be greatly appreciated
