You usually can just claim that you are a professional and wink and they
will send them to you. You should be fine as long as it is legal for you to
own that kind of equipment in your state.

I think that the companies say this for liability...

Looks like the Sere picks are awesome, but they state on their website
that they only sell to LEA, MIL and security professionals (I think they
mean the physical kind of security).  Did you have this sort of
credential to get verified for your order, or were you able to convince
them of your legitimate intent through a traditional infosec background?
