I'm using TiddlyWiki for quite some time now.
It is highly customizable but also in the standard version it has all
you need to have all your information in one single file.
Perfect combination with dropbox or a USB key at your key ring.

....but I'll checkout DokuWiki and evernote the next days.

I use evernote and/or dropbox with a folder structure and text file
system. I like evernote because it syncs across multiple systems and
is quick to enter stuff from my iphone. Dropbox is nice for similar
reasons but I can also toss files up there. For example I'm currently
studying for my CCNP and keep PDF versions of all the book as well as
other misc training material so I can access it from wherever I'm at.
One of these days I'll finish (reread) "Getting Things Done" and apply
some better parameters to my "system".

I use dokuwiki and have a page for each topic I'm interested in. The
beauty of that is that it stores all the content as plain text so if I
can't get web access but I can get ssh I can just read the documents
    from the command line.

Really easy to setup and admin, and the search feature works where I
never found the one with media wiki did.
