Compromise a network through the fax on a MFP?

I know I've seen info about this before, but my google skills are lacking this morning. On a MFP (printer/copier/fax), how possible is it today to compromise a printer via the fax modem and gain access to either 1. the stored jobs or 2. the network to which it is attached. Several printer vendors I've asked have said that there is an air gap between the fax component and the network components making it nearly impossible to go from one side to the other. But, I'm wondering if anyone out there has seen/read anything actual. Thanks. Craig -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
