Hey Adrian, I looked it up and I was totally off on that greenfield thing but it is the same as 802.11a. Sorry I don't work on this stuff often enough to be authoritative, didn't mean to confuse the matter. If it help this paper has a really good write-up on it www.arubanetworks.com/pdf/technology/whitepapers/wp_Designed_Speed_802.11n.pdf On Tue, May 12, 2009 at 1:00 PM, Adrian Crenshaw <irongeek at irongeek.com>wrote:
Thanks. From doing some reading, looks like n really complicates some things. I'm still not sure why the channel numbers are separated by 2 or 4 instead of 1 like the 2.4 band. For example, why channels 34, 36, 38 instead of just an increment by one? I found this doc on 802.11a: http://www.air-stream.org.au/channel_802_11a does 802.11n have the same channels when it is using the 5 Ghz band? I'm trying to prep up a bunch of info for a free wireless class I'm co teaching here in the Louisville area. Thanks much guys, Adrian _______________________________________________ Pauldotcom mailing list Pauldotcom at mail.pauldotcom.com http://mail.pauldotcom.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pauldotcom Main Web Site: http://pauldotcom.com_______________________________________________ Pauldotcom mailing list Pauldotcom at mail.pauldotcom.com http://mail.pauldotcom.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pauldotcom Main Web Site: http://pauldotcom.com_______________________________________________ Pauldotcom mailing list Pauldotcom at mail.pauldotcom.com http://mail.pauldotcom.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pauldotcom Main Web Site: http://pauldotcom.com
