Happy Thanksgiving to our friends in the U.S. This year, I'm thankful for all the users who submitted fingerprints for Nmap's OS and service databases! Though we've been steadily adding OS fingerprints to Nmap's database throughout the year, we haven't had a highlights message since March. These highlights cover submissions from January to September 2016. Line count went from 96872 to 101488 (+4616, +5%). Fingerprint count went from 5089 to 5336 (+247, +5%). New vendors: ARCA, Argon, AudioControl, Bose, Cayman Systems, Dahua, Denver Electronics, Engetron, Fatek, Fuji Xerox, Garmin, George Robotics, Interpeak, Keyence, OSRAM, Osmosys, Phoenix Contact, Ruijie, Sapling, Shenzhen Kinoway, Syllable, Teldat, Tiandy, TransAct, Viasat, Xyplex, ZKTeco, Zipato, iRobot. Removed vendors: 2FXS, Pinell. The removals here are 2FXS, which is not a vendor but a telephony interface specification, and Pinell, which turned out to be a rebrand of the often-rebranded Frontier Silicon internet radio. New vendor/family combinations: ARCA embedded, Adtran AOS, Apple OS X, Apple macOS, Argon embedded, AudioControl embedded, Bose embedded, Cayman Systems embedded, Cisco AireOS, Cisco IOS-XE, Dahua embedded, Dell Network Operating System, Denver Electronics embedded, EMC VNX OE for File, Engetron embedded, Fatek embedded, Fuji Xerox embedded, Garmin embedded, George Robotics Micropython, HP Comware, HP Onboard Administrator, IBM 4960 OS, Interpeak IPCOM, Keyence embedded, Motorola WiNG, OSRAM embedded, Osmosys embedded, Phoenix Contact embedded, Ruijie embedded, Sapling embedded, Shenzhen Kinoway embedded, Syllable Desktop, Teldat embedded, Tiandy embedded, Toshiba 4960 OS, TransAct embedded, Tripp Lite NetOS, VMware Player, Viasat embedded, Xyplex embedded, ZKTeco embedded, Zipato embedded, iRobot embedded. Removed vendor/family combinations: 2FXS embedded, Amazon Fire OS, Pinell embedded. Amazon Fire OS was removed because it was basically indistinguishable from Android, upon which it is based. We also made an effort to keep up with Apple's rebranding of Mac OS X, which is just OS X for Mountain Lion through El Capitan, and macOS for the new Sierra version. Apple iOS 10 Apple macOS 10.12 (Sierra) FreeBSD 12.0-CURRENT Android 6.0 Linux 4.6 Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 NetBSD 7.0 OpenBSD 6.0 Seems like all the major desktop and general-purpose operating systems had new versions to cover. +Fingerprint Cayman Systems GatorBox CS This blast from the past is a LocalTalk-to-Ethernet bridge, for anyone still running AppleTalk natively :) +Fingerprint Digi AnywhereUSB/2 network-attached USB hub +Fingerprint Digi AnywhereUSB network-attached USB hub USB over IP, anyone? For anyone keeping track, we do have several net-USB protocols in the nmap-service-probes file that these might be using. +Fingerprint Espressif ESP8266 WiFi system-on-a-chip +Fingerprint Micropython 1.8 +Fingerprint libreCMC 1.3 Elegant Eleanor (Linux 3.14) IoT is built on stuff like this, as well as a lot of hobbyist projects. +Fingerprint iRobot Roomba 980 vacuum cleaner +Fingerprint Vivint alarm panel (Linux 2.6.21) +Fingerprint OSRAM Lightify lighting controller +Fingerprint Sapling IP clock +Fingerprint Zipato Zibabox Duo home automation controller And here are the IoT devices! Home automation, light bulbs, and even a vacuum cleaner. +Fingerprint Fatek FBs-CBEH PLC Ethernet communication board +Fingerprint Phoenix Contact ILC 171 ETH 2TX PLC +Fingerprint Rockwell Automation 1756 ControlLogix Ethernet/IP adapter +Fingerprint Rockwell Automation 1756-L8xE ControlLogix processor +Fingerprint Siemens MP370 input panel (Windows CE) SCADA/ICS making a good show with several PLCs and related equipment. +Fingerprint Keyence CV-X150F Image Sensor/Controller (VxWorks) +Fingerprint ARCA CM18 Cash Recycler (Windows CE) +Fingerprint Rigol DS1000Z-series oscilloscope +Fingerprint Nintendo 3DS +Fingerprint ZKTeco F18 fingerprint reader Here's the weird stuff. Well, game systems may not be weird, but there's something very meta about fingerprinting a fingerprint reader. +Fingerprint IBM 4960 OS point-of-sale system +Fingerprint Toshiba 4960 OS point-of-sale system +Fingerprint TransAct Ithaca 280 thermal printer Got the point-of-sale thing covered. 4960 +Fingerprint Syllable Desktop 0.6.7 One more oddity from the past: Forked from a stagnant project in 2002, latest release in 2012, still alpha.
