Socket troubles: Too many open files

During a scan last night, nmap failed with the following error: Socket troubles: Too many open files Socket troubles: Too many open files nmap: nsock_core.c:1187: nsp_add_event: Assertion `nse->iod->sd >= 0' failed. Aborted (core dumped) It was a full TCP/partial UDP scan of about 70 internet hosts. Any other information I can provide? I'm unfortunately not sure I'll be able to run the scan again to try to replicate.
